Manage an Email Distribution List Using Outlook

This will guide you through updating an email distribution list using Outlook. A distribution list contains a number of people you can send emails to all at once (e.g. everyone@yourcompany.com).

Your IT administrator will need to add your account as an owner of the distribution list within the Exchange Admin portal before you will be able to save any changes you make.

Instructions

To modify members, the manager of this distribution list needs to:

  1. Open the address book in Outlook (New Email > To).
  2. Right-click the Distribution List > click Properties to open it for editing.

  3. Click the Modify Members button. Make the necessary changes and click OK > OK

Note that on the General tab of the distribution list properties window, the Owner field shows the name of the user who is assigned to manage this distribution list.

Managing Distribution List membership is not supported in Outlook 2011/2016 for Mac.
